Aloe Vera

Saying 'Aloe Vera' out loud, always brings a smile to my face as I imagine a squawky parrot shouting out the words as a greeting to some aged aunt. It was not until one of our recent trips to Olhao, Portugal that I witnessed this plant in all its colourful, coroneted glory.

Most of us will be aware of the cooling properties Aloe provides, especially to sunburnt skin. However, it was only when reading up on this amazing plant that I found out that the uses range from: relieving heartburn, lowering blood sugar levels and it is even an alternative to mouthwash.
